MicroBadge-Phlebotomy

Program Summary:

Earners of this badge have learned the basic concepts of Phlebotomy. Students acquired a comprehensive knowledge of Phlebotomy's theory, principles, and practice, including selection and use of instrumentation, asepsis, safety issues, laboratory information, legal issues, diagnostic tests, proper labeling, and transport of specimens. Students recognize the sites and medical conditions where venipuncture is contraindicated and demonstrate the skill to perform capillary and venipuncture draws.

This microcredential prepares students for the National Healthcare Association Certified Phlebotomy Technician Certification exam. To become a phlebotomist students must pass the Phlebotomy Technician Certification exam.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • $80,000 for dependent undergraduate students, independent students who are married and have tax dependents, or independent students who are unmarried and have tax dependents
  • $40,000 for married independent undergraduate students who have no other dependents
  • $10,000 for unmarried independent undergraduate students with no dependents

State University of New York (Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯) policy prohibits Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ Sullivan's admission applications from inquiring into an applicant’s prior criminal history. After acceptance, the College shall inquire if the student previously has been convicted of a felony if such individual seeks campus housing or participation in clinical or field experiences, internships (where a criminal history background check is required) or study abroad programs. The information required to be disclosed under Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ policy regarding such felony convictions shall be reviewed by a standing campus committee consistent with the legal standards articulated in New York State Corrections Law, and other applicable law. Students who have previously been convicted of a felony are advised that their prior criminal history may impede their ability to complete the requirements of certain academic programs and/or to meet licensure requirements for certain professions. Students who have concerns about such matters are advised to contact the dean's office of their intended academic program.

Microcredentials are short, focused credentials designed to provide in-demand skills and experience in a particular field. Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ Sullivan’s microcredentials are β€œstackable” β€” meaning, they can provide a pathway to a certificate or full degree, now or when you are ready.

Microcredentials are groups of three to five courses that can be taken as a standalone program or you can stack them to create a pathway to earn a certificate or full degree. They are designed to help you quickly develop relevant skills to obtain employment or to enhance your skills to advance your career. Courses may be offered online and/or in-person depending on the microcredential program. As a student, enrolled in a microcredential program, you have access to Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ Sullivan's academic support and campus resources.

Anyone seeking to advance their career or increase their earning potential, those needing to up-skill or make a career change, those looking to come back to the job market, and yes, those looking for fun, engaging, learning to support a hobby or interest.

Microcredentials are also suitable for current students and alumni who want to concentrate on a particular skill or area of interest. Credits earned in a microcredential program may apply toward your degree program.
